The Story
Muleshoe Area Medical Center (MAMC) is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital that has proudly served Bailey County Texas and surrounding counties for over 65 years. Like many rural hospitals, their providers carried the weight of time-consuming clinical documentation that could otherwise be spent with patients or simply going home on time.
When MAMC made the decision to go live with Microsoft Dragon Copilot integrated with TruBridge, it marked a significant milestone: all 7 providers were completely new to AI-assisted documentation and ambient listening technology. There was no prior benchmark, no comparison tool — just a team willing to embrace something new.
The results spoke for themselves. Providers who once spent 20+ minutes per patient note taking are now finishing documentation in as little as 6–10 minutes, a 50%-70% decrease. Notes are more detailed, more complete, and require minimal editing.
That exchange captures exactly what Dragon Copilot does at its best. It doesn’t replace the clinical expertise providers have spent careers developing — it surfaces it, organizes it, and delivers it directly where it belongs. Because Dragon Copilot is fully embedded within the TruBridge Notes application, providers are no longer copying and pasting documentation or creating a stack of unsigned notes to deal with at the end of the day. The ambient conversation is captured in real time, and the generated note populates directly into TruBridge Notes, where it is reviewed, signed, and finalized in the same workflow providers already know.
That seamless integration doesn’t just save clicks; it accelerates the downstream process from there. Once a note is signed it moves immediately moves to the next step of the billing cycle with no manual handoff and no waiting on a provider to work through hours of backlogged documentation after their last patient leaves. For a busy Critical Access Hospital, that means faster claim submission, cleaner documentation at the point of care, and providers who can actually go home when their day is done.
The Impact
Since going live, MAMC providers have cut documentation time significantly — with some reducing note time by more than half. Every provider who completed the survey reported improved note clarity and completeness, and all indicated they are likely to recommend Dragon Copilot integrated with TruBridge to colleagues. For a rural Critical Access Hospital where every provider matters and burnout is a real risk, that kind of feedback is more than a metric — it’s a signal that the right tool found the right team.
Results are based on provider-provided survey data. 4 of 7 live providers completed the survey.
